How to Make a Bed With Stairs

Many children and parents find that they will enjoy having a playhouse bed with stairs instead of a traditional two-story bed with stairs. The fact of the matter is that a playhouse bed with stairs can add a lot of fun to your child's bedroom. It gives them a sense of adventure while still being supervised by their parents. No matter what kind of bed with stairs you choose, be sure that you know all of your options before you make any final decisions. You may find that a kids playhouse bed is exactly what your little girl needs.

There are several different styles of beds that include stairs. Some of these include: loft bed with stairs, bunk beds with a ladder, a princess bunk bed with stairs, and a bed with stairs that go all the way up to the ceiling. Many times parents and children find that they will choose a loft bed with stairs because it offers more storage space than other types of beds. For example, a twin bunk bed with stairs has the ability to sleep two children who are sleeping in different beds.

If you want to know how to build a playhouse bed with stairs, the first step is to get some wood screws and some pink vinyl sheets. First, you will need to measure the height of your girl's bed from the floor to the ceiling. Then, you will need to measure the length of the bed from the floor to the bottom of the ladder. Use a piece of paper to write down these measurements.

The next step is to measure the height of the bed from the bottom bunk to the wall. This is important because you can use this height when deciding how high your shelves should be. Measure the length of the bed from the wall to the longest piece of plywood in the back of the room. Using a tape measure, read the measurement off the paper and adjust the depth of the shelf according to the length of the corner bunk beds.

The third step is to measure the width of the room from the corner in which you will assemble the shelves to the wall in which you are going to place the ladder. Mark out where your door will be when you are constructing the stairs. You can use wood screws or nails to fasten the shelf onto the wall. Screws are easier because they can be reused over. Nails are less expensive but will take away from the appearance of the bed with stairs.

The next step is to install the three legs at the corners. Use two pieces of plywood and mark out where the two legs will be, then use one piece of plywood as a guide for cutting out the final holes. Use the flat side of the knife to make four cut lines for the bottom of the platform to fit against the bed with stairs. If you have to install the bed with stairs that extend all the way up to the ground floor, you could fit the bottom rails between the bed with stairs and the wall.

Use your nail gun to hang the railings and screw the bottom rail into the lower rails. You can use wood shims under the nails to ensure that the bed with stairs is firm against the walls. Screw the upper rails down as well. If your bed with stairs is shorter than your bed frame, you could add rafters underneath to support the weight. These shims should be about 24" deep.

The last step is to attach the steps and the bottom rail to the wall. Use wood shims to keep the ladder from slipping and to keep the ladder level. When your bed with stairs is assembled, use the ladder as you would any other bed and stand on the top rail with your feet on the bottom risers. This is how your bed with stairs should look.
